Milwaukee Bucks 118 vs 104 Brooklyn Nets summary: stats and highlights | NBA
The Milwaukee Bucks rattled off their 15th win in a row to cap off a perfect February against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night. Giannis Antetokounmpo led all scores with 33 points in the 118-104 victory from the Barclays Center.
Giannis back after minor injury
Milwaukee not only stretched their win streak to 15, but they also took the top spot in the Eastern Conference and are now in sole possession of the best record in the NBA. There were questions as to wether or not Giannis would play against the Nets after suffering a slight knee injury against the Heat last week. It took him a while to get going but once he did, the Bucks followed suit after a sluggish start.
Brooklyn came into the game reeling as they continue to cope with the mass exodus of their two stars before the All-Star Break. They had lost four of their last five and six of their last eight going into the game against the Bucks and looked like they were on the way to snapping that bad spell in the first half.
They came out and controlled the game as Mikal Bridges led Brooklyn to an early double digit lead. The lead stayed like that for the rest of the first half, and into the third quarter as Bridges, Cam Johnson and Spencer Dinwiddie went into the break with a 10 point lead.
Another massive double-double for Giannis
Giannis and Brook Lopez came out strong in the third quarter and tied the game up shortly out of the break, but before the Bucks could take the lead the Nets responded by going back up by eight and it seemed like Brooklyn had weathered the storm.
Milwaukee wasn't done there. The visitors went on a 16-3 run and a Bobby Portis three with under 1:30 to go in the third quarter would give the Bucks a lead they would hang on to for the rest of the night.
Jrue Holiday and Giannis would finish off the Nets, extending the lead to as many as 18 points in the final 12 minutes. The Greek finished with 33 points and 15 rebounds, as Holiday poured in another 14. Brook Lopez had 13 and 10 to help the Bucks dominate down low out rebounding Brooklyn 55-38 while scoring 62 points in the paint to the Nets’ 44.
The Bucks will look to make it 16 straight and stay at the top of the Eastern Conference tomorrow in a home game against the Orlando Magic and the Nets hope to right the ship against the New York Knicks tomorrow at MSG.
This team is making history, and it seems like they are clicking at just the right time. They are currently the team with the best record in the league after their win on Tuesday night.
