The Timberwolves guard has now given his side of what appears to be an ugly situation between him and a woman with whom he was reportedly involved. The problem is, that it does little to improve picture of him that’s been painted.

What do we know about Anthony Edwards’ alleged ‘abortion txts’?

On Monday, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards released a statement in which he addressed claims made by a woman who stated that she was pregnant with his child. The woman in question had previously released private messages on social media, that appeared to be between herself and Edwards. In those messages, Edwards seems to pressure her to have an abortion. With Edwards actually tagged in the in sccreenshots, it was not long before they went viral.

Perhaps the most damning photo among those which were posted is that which appears to show a positive pregnancy test sent by the woman, to which the person who is reportedly Edwards responds by saying “get a abortion lol,” before going on to add that they do not want a child, and finally concluding with “just take the pills.” Yet, there was another message that seems to show the individual who is allegedly Edwards, stating that their attorney will take care of the situation. An accompanying photo of a $100,000 wire transfer was next, in addition to a message that read “you got da money whats the hol up.”

Anthony Edwards faces the backlash

There was never going to be a kind take on Edwards’ comments and perhaps we can say, rightly so. With that said, the 22-year-old former No. 1 overall pick (2020) faced the music with a statement that he posted on social media in which he addressed the alleged messages between him and the woman.

“I made comments in the heat of the moment that are not me, and that are not aligned with what I believe and who I want to be as a man,” Edwards said. “All women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions about their bodies and what is best for them. I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time.” Regardless of what his off-the-court issues are, Edwards and his team will be facing the Miami Heat on Monday night i.e., if they are to maintain their lead in the Eastern Conference, they will need their young star to be focused.
