With Stephen Curry already setting an NBA Finals record, we bring you five of Curry’s most impressive NBA Finals performances in the history of his career.
USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday night, Warriors star Steph Curry had a record-breaking showing in the first quarter of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, draining 6 3-pointers in Chase Center.

Curry snapped the NBA Finals record for most made in a single quarter, in the opening 12 minutes of the game. He actually had held a share of the record already with Ray Allen and Kenny Smith (five). But he now stands alone at the top.

Because we can’t help but to expect more stellar performances by the baby-faced assassin throughout the rest of the NBA Finals, we wanted to make a list of his most impressive performances in all the Finals he’s played at.

Curry’s 5 Most Impressive Finals performances

Game 5 of 2015 NBA Finals vs. Cavaliers

In his very first NBA Finals appearance, Curry stood up to the Cavaliers at Oracle Arena. Cleveland trailed by only one point at halftime and the Warriors found more mobility in the third quarter. Curry then completely took off in the fourth quarter, going for 17 of his team-high 37 points in just nine minutes of playing time to help the Warriors to a 104-91 victory. He became an NBA champion for the first time that year.

Game 4 of 2016 Finals at Cavaliers

Coming out of a blow off against the Cavs in Game 3, the Warriors trailed by five points halfway through Game 4 and Curry finished off the second half with 24 of his game-high 38 points. He accounted for all of the Dubs’ points in the last 5:56 of the matchup, with the exception of Klay Thompson’s four free throws, leading the Warriors to their final victory of the series, 108-97.

Game 5 of 2017 Finals vs Cavaliers

A year later, Curry and Kevin Durant took the lead in Game 5 against Cleveland after the Cavaliers won Game 4. The two stars combined for three consecutive 3-pointers in just 68 seconds, halfway through the second frame. Curry totalled 34 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds on 50.0 percent shooting from the court in a closeout matchup.

Game 4 of 2018 Finals vs Cavaliers

Golden State made magic in 2018 against Cleveland, ensuring a four-game sweep led by Curry. The Warriors superstar started Game 4 by making a statement: scoring 12 points in the first six minutes of the matchup. Following a solid third quarter, Curry scored 12 points in the fourth, adding three more 3-pointers to the four he’d already made in the first half. And once again, he scored 37 points, four assists and six rebounds on 12-27 shooting from the field.

Game 3 of 2019 Finals vs Raptors

Curry and the Golden State had a huge opportunity in the 2019 Finals to defeat the Raptors in Toronto in Game 3, especially after escaping with a Game 2 on-the-road victory. Without Durant and Thompson, Curry gave the Dubs all he got, scoring 47 points in 43 minutes, in addition to seven assists and eight rebounds. He put on a one-man show against a fully prepared defense meant to stop him, shooting almost 50 percent from the field (14 of 31 FG) and from distance (6 of 14 3-pointers).
