NBA 2024 Play-in tournament schedule: Eastern conference matchups
After 82 games, the NBA 2023-24 regular season has come to an end with four teams set to participate in the play-in tournament.
The 23-24 NBA regular season drew to a close on Sunday night with a simultaneous last round of games taking place initially in the Eastern Conference and then matters in the West came to a conclusion after 82 regular season matches.
With the top six teams in each Conference advancing to the playoffs, teams finishing in seventh through to tenth have another opportunity to keep their season alive via the play-in after the format was introduced by the league in 2020.
Eastern Conference play-in
In the East, the action gets underway in the first games as 9th placed Chicago Bulls face Atlanta Hawks, the loser of this match-up sees their participation in the 2023-24 NBA season come to an end.
The winner progresses to face the loser of the second game of the play-in as seventh placed 76ers take on 8th placed Miami Heat.
The winner of this game secure the No. 7 seed in the playoffs and will face No. 2 seed New York Knicks.
The final game of this three-game series will see the winner of Bulls-Hawks face the loser of 76ers-Heat and the winner of this match-up will occupy the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs and face a tough task being pitted by the in-form Boston Celtics.
Eastern Conference: play-in times
Both games will be played on Wednesday, 17 April with the 76ers facing Miami Heat at the Wells Fargo Centre with a 7pm (ET) start.
The second game will be staged at the United Centre (Chicago) as the Bulls welcoming the Hawks with the tip-off scheduled for 9:30 pm (ET).
The game involving the winner of Bulls-Hawks against the loser of 76ers-Heat to determine the No.8 seed will be staged on Friday with the time yet to be confirmed.
