NBA All-Star Weekend: All Star Games live

On his home court, in front of his home fans, with his family in the crowd, Steph Curry was presented the Kobe Bryant Trophy for the All-Star Game's MVP. It's only fitting that Curry, who put on a show exactly like he has for the last decade and a half. He was one of the ones who had input on how to make this game better, and after the game he talked about the game improving, but still needing some work to make the most of this weekend's main event.

as.com

Steph to Jayson Tatum for the win and Team Shaq beat Team Chuck in a landslide. The overall feeling from the players coming out of the game was it was more competitive but it still needs some more tweaks. This was far from the All-Star Games of old, but there were moments of promise. It's hard to give the NBA a resounding pat on the back after seeing the NHL's Four Nations tournament, especially that USA vs. Canada game last night.

as.com

There was talk of the rest of the world catching up to the US, but the OGs had a statement to make on Sunday night. The rest of the world is producing great players, but the home of basketball is and will continue to be USA. Steph showed that in the Olympics this summer, and he showed it in San Fran on Sunday.

as.com

Wemby is going to be in this league for a long time and he is going to be in this game for the next decade and some change. Hopefully he can bring some more of that intensity in years to come, and hopefully that can spread to the next generation who has grown up watching some terrible All-Star Games.

as.com

There was some defense, especially from All-Star Game debutant Victory Wembanyama who looked like he was taking this game seriously, but in the end the OGs were just too good. Kyrie, who was a late fill in to the All-Star Game, took this dunk off the backboard and gave us one of the highlights of the night.

as.com

What else would we expect? Steph, on his home court gave his home fans the show they were looking for and the show they have seen so many times in Chase Center.

as.com

It wasn't just about the game from San Francisco. The TNT era of All-Star Games that has stretched back for decades came to an end on Sunday. During the title game, Ernie, Kenny, Shaq and Chuck were honored for their outstanding work. They became a part of this weekend, and made these All-Star Breaks even more entertaining.

as.com

The OG's got off to a sizzling start against Team World, going up 11-0 thanks to 8 early points from Jayson Tatum. They would keep that cushion for most of the game and it was never really too close or competitive for Team Chuck who was without Giannis Antetokounmpo. Team Shaq didn't have LeBron James who was a late scratch about an hour before the game started, so that was no excuse for Team Chuck.

as.com

Before we get into the final highlights of the final game, this was the moment of the night. Jaren hit a logo three to win Mr. Beast's $100,000 shot challenge. He needed to hit one before Damian Lillard hit three and he stuck it at the buzzer to win the cash.

as.com

The NBA tried a little something new in the 2025 All-Star Game after years and years of underwhelming, defenseless games. This year, was.... not much better. But there were spurts of defense, some nice highlights, but in the end it still needs a lot of work to make it a worthwhile watch.

Steph Curry was on his home court so you knew he was going to put on a show. He started off with a running, tear drop to get the game started. He would go on to be named MVP of the All-Star Game.

TNT's last ASG

This is the last All-Star Game that will be shown on TNT, and because of that, there is call for an homage here from San Fran. Kenny, Chuck, Ernie and Shaq were honored at center court, as a little tear came to my eye. They are still going to be in the studio, but not at the All-Star Weekend. This weekend is special in large part because of them. So thanks fellas.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM SAN FRAN!!!

as.com

The stage is set. It's the OG's vs. Team World. Shaq vs. Chuck. It's the match up we want to see and the match up that many people want in a real 48 minute USA vs. the World All-Star Game.

as.com

I think Dame was being nice to the kid in the Mr. Beast shooting challenge. He could have made his first three shots and called it a challenge, and this just shows you how money he is from long range.

as.com

Damian Lillard came up clutch late on for the OG's. He pulled Team Shaq within three points, but the Rising Stars turned up the defense the rest of the way and almost shocked the OGs.

as.com

It looked like the OG's were going to cruise to a win, but the Rising Stars locked down late on. Kyrie and Brown put the OG's up 6, but it would come down to the wire.

as.com

That was a pretty good game, especially at the end of the game as each team got close to the 40 point mark.

It will be Team Shaq vs. Team Chuck. Team USA vs. Team World. It's just what we wanted. Let's see if they can deliver.

as.com

Draymond is on one

Draymond just ripped this format. Gave it a 0 from 1-10 and then closed out the segment saying "it sucks. This isn't basketball."

as.com

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

Mr. Beast's $100,000 Shot Challege

The Mr. Beast's $100,000 shot challenge just took place at Chase Center, and right before the NBA went to commercial some dude from the stands hit a buzzer beater to make his $100,000 shot to win the jackpot!!! Damian Lillard had to make three before he made one and at the last second the youngster won it!!!

as.com

SGA, one of the leader for the MVP race, stepped late and won it for Team Chuck.

as.com

This is what the people came for. Jokic to Wemby. When and where else can you see two of the top big men in the world running a fast break together?

as.com

From the baseline Darius Garland hung it up for for Jalen Williams for the slam.

as.com

There's been a little defense so far, which is nice to see. Wemby bringing it on both ends, stuffing Cade Cunningham at the rack.

SEMIFINAL NO. 1 IS UNDERWAY FROM THE BAY!!!

as.com

Steph is in the building. Listen to the roar he got, which was of course the loudest of the night.

as.com

Semifinal No. 1 is coming up now. Team Chuck vs. Team Kenny. Team Youngsters vs. Team World.

as.com

Shaq knows how to make an entrance. Usually it's him putting on a show but this time he's got some sort of a robot dog stealing the spotlight.

as.com

Here comes Hart

Here comes Kevin Hart who will be hosting the All-Star Game with Ernie Johnson. Love him or hate him, Kevin Hart is loud. That you have to admit.

as.com

Of course Stephen Curry, the hometown hero gets announced last here in San Fran and of course he gets the biggest roar from this Chase Center Crowd. So far the best thing about tonight was Oh Canada. We have seen better intros over the years. Remember Shaq and the Jabowokees?

as.com

There were some wild fits from the All-Stars coming into Chase Center tonight. SGA went with the white mink. Jokic put on his best Gru look. Jalen Brunson was looking sharp, and Jaren Jackson Jr. went for the Cruella De Vil look.

as.com

Ok so it's official. Giannis won't play tonight because of injury, but he is dressed out. No one gets into the All-Star Mood more than the Greek Freak.

as.com

Semifinal No. 1

The first semifinal will feature Team Chuck's international guys against Team Kenny's young up and comers. The first one to 40 points will be heading to the final later tonight.

as.com

The intro to the NBA's All-Star Games

Alright, this thing is about to get going. We are going to have the intros and the show, and probably a little concert, so tip off to semifinal one isn't coming for a little while, but the side show is half the story during All-Star Weekend.

Katt Williams is doing the intro, and had me with the premise that he was going to shut down the Golden Gate Bridge. The intro started in a permit office as he pleads his case to the guy at the office only to get denied. He had me for a second. I thought the NBA was going to shut down the bridge, but in the end, it got denied and residents of San Fran can take a deep sigh of relief.

as.com

Damn, I don't know who Alessya Carra is but she just crushed Oh Canada. I don't want to get into anything political, but as a song, musically, Oh Canada blows the Star Spangled Banner out of the water.

as.com

Giannis? Is that you?

It looks like maybe just maybe Giannis is going to be playing tonight. He's dressed and ready to go, so that would be a big addition to Team Chuck, which is already missing Luka Doncic.

Weekend recap

Coming into the final day of the All-Star break, this has been a pretty fun weekend. Mac McClung headlined Saturday night with his high flying arial acrobatics, winning his third straight Dunk Contest. Tyler Herro won the Three-Point Contest after Damian Lillard failed to win his three-peat and Team Cavs won the Skills Contest which didn’t go through with out a bit of controversy. Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama were disqualified from the event after they threw up air balls in the shooting contest to get a fast time. They tried to plead their case but the NBA shut that plea down quickly. The Rising Stars Challenge was a hit as all four teams showed and played hard which turned into some pretty good finishes. Team C led by Chris Mullen won and Stefon Castle was named MVP, so they qualified for the All-Star Games tonight. It’s been good so far, let’s see if the biggest stars in the game can bring us home with an entertaining Sunday night from San Fran.

as.com

DRAYMOND WITH A WILD PREDICTION

Draymond Green is on the panel of Inside the Studio on TNT and he just predicted, or stated that the Golden State Warriors are going to win the NBA Championship. They did just get Jimmy Butler, which is nice but they are still 10th in the West, so they will have to worry about either moving up the ladder or getting through the Play-In.

as.com
Why isn’t Giannis Antetokounmpo playing in the 2025 NBA All-Star game?

No Giannis either

Luka won’t be the only international star not around for Team Chuck. Giannis Antetokounmpo is also out, but he will be missing the action because he’s currently injured. He suffered a mild calf strain before the break and he will be unavailable for tonight. He has been replaced by Trae Young, who doesn’t quite fit the bill of international, but he’s a good addition to Sir Charles’ team.

as.com
Why isn’t Giannis Antetokounmpo playing in the 2025 NBA All-Star game?

No Luka tonight

It was one of the biggest trades ever made in the NBA, and it sent shockwaves around the league. Luka Doncic to the Lakers is going to chance the landscape of the Western Conference as two mega stars join forces in LA. They will not be playing against each other tonight as Luka Doncic will not play in this season’s All-Star game because he has missed too many games this season. You have to play a certain amount of games, and Luka had to sit out for a good chunk of the first half of the season with injuries. Our Paul Reidy has more.

as.com

Team Candace

Team Candace has essentially inherited this team that won the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday night. It was coached by Golden State Warrior legend Chris Mullin, and led by Stephon Castle who won the MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge after hitting the game winning shot and carrying his team past the G-Leaguers. Here is Team Candace that will be playing Team Shaq in semifinal No. 1.

as.com

LeBron a late scratch

We have late breaking news just moments before tip off. LeBron James who has played in the last 20 All-Star Games has decided to sit out tonight stating that he will rest his lingering foot and ankle injuries. This certainly dulls some of the star power tonight, and will make things a little more difficult for Team Shaq.

as.com

Team Kenny

Kenny Smith decided to go with the youngsters. The next generation is ready to take the reins from Curry and LeBron when those legends finally hang it up, and they can start that process tonight. Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson and Thee Point Champ Tyler Herro will lead a team of youngsters that are looking to prove they they are the face of the league now, not tomorrow.

as.com

Team Chuck

Sir Charles went the international route. His team consist of all of the top players from around the world. Players from overseas have been dominating the league, and the MVP award. Now Chuck has brought the top players from outside of the US, and they will be looking to take the title and try to prove that the best players in the world are from outside of the US. There are a couple of big absences from the team as Luka and Giannis won’t be participating. Team Chuck plays Team Kenny in the semis.

as.com

Team Shaq

Team Shaq consists of the vets. The OG’s of the league that have carried the torch for the last decade or more. Led by Steph Curry and LeBron James, who unite for the first time since the Olympics are the stars of the show for Shaq’s squad. Here is the entire roster that will be taking on Team Candace.

2025 NBA All-Star Game new format explained: Why are there four teams?

New look All-Star Games

Gone are the All-Star Games between the Eastern and Western Conference. Gone are the ASG’s that were played between two teams for four quarters. We have tried that and it hasn’t worked. The 24 players that were voted to the All-Star Game have been broken up into three teams drafted by TNT Inside the Studio pundits Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith. The other team, Team Candace will consist of the winning team, Team C, from the Rising Stars Challenge. There will be two semifinal games, played to 40, and the winners will play in the title game played to 25. There is no clock or quarters. First team to the target score wins. It will Team Shaq vs. Team Candace in SF no. 1, and Team Chuck and Team Kenny in SF no. 2. Our Paul Reidy has more.

We are live from San Fran

Hello everyone and welcome to the Bay where we are hoping to bring a little bit of the luster back to the All-Star Game. The product has plummeted over the last decade or more as intensity, defense and competitiveness has disappeared. Last year there were almost 400 points scored between the two teams, and the NBA got ripped as the biggest stars went for a stroll through the park in one of the leagues biggest events of the season. Tonight the plan is to incentivize the players, who everyone will be hoping show a little pride. We get our first glimpse at the new look All-Star Games tonight
