NBA fines 3 players for Hornets-Magic altercation
Orlando Magic forward Admiral Schofield and center Robin Lopez were fined for their roles in the on-court altercation during Thursday’s Hornets-Magic game.
The NBA fined three players a total of $50,000 on Saturday for their roles in an on-court altercation during the fourth quarter of the Charlotte Hornets’ 128-101 victory over the Orlando Magic at Spectrum Center on Thursday night.
Magic center Robin Lopez and Hornets center Montrezl Harrell were fined $15,000 each, while Magic forward Admiral Schofield was fined $20,000, after all three players received technical fouls.

With 7:45 remaining in the game, Charlotte’s Jalen McDaniels fouled Orlando’s R.J. Hampton on a drive to the basket, and the two had to be set apart. The incident then spiraled when Lopez “aggressively approached and made contact with the PJ Washington, who was acting as a peacemaker between Hampton and McDaniels,” as per Byron Spruell, NBA president of league operations.
Schofield then forcibly shoved Harrell in the back after making contact with Lopez, and both “were deemed to have further escalated the incident.”
With one start for the Magic this season, Schofield is averaging 3.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 37 games, while Lopez is averaging 7.1 points and 3.5 rebounds with nine starts in 35 games for Orlando.
Harrell, who joined the Hornets in February, is averaging 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in 24 games with Charlotte.
