NBA suspends Isaiah Stewart for his altercation with Drew Eubanks

Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart has been suspended for his hit on Drew Eubanks that took place at the Footprint Center before the NBA All-Star Break.

The NBA announced that Detroit Pistons forward, Isaiah Stewart, has been suspended three games without pay for initiating a physical altercation with Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks. The suspension will kick in once he has recovered from a preexisting ankle injury.

Stewart punch costs him

That means that the former Washington Husky will miss games against the Indiana Pacers (02/22), Orlando Magic (02/24) and the New York Knicks (02/26) and will lose out on $108,966, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

According to Eubanks’ recount of the incident, the altercation took place when Stewart entered the Suns’ home court, the Footprint Center. The Pistons big man threw a punch and stadium security intervened immediately. Despite taking the punch, Eubanks played 18 minutes, had six points and eight rebounds in Phoenix’s win over Detroit.

Stewart will not be facing chargers according to the Phoenix Municipal Court. In 35 games the Detroit Piston has played 35 games, averaging 11 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
