NBA take note: Bronny James’ Lakers peak is coming soon
After a challenging rookie year, the Lakers’ Bronny James is being tipped for big things in the very near future.

Bronny James experienced an up-and-down rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers, from the highs of becoming one half of the first father-and-son duo to play together for the same NBA team, to the lows of trying to live up to almost impossible expectations as LeBron James’ son.
In his first NBA season, Bronny appeared in 29 games, averaging 2.1 points, 0.8 assists and 0.6 rebounds in six minutes per appearance. In 18 G-League games, he averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.7 steals, shooting 41.6% from the field, 33.6% on 3-pointers and 76.9% on free throws.
JJ Redick confident in Bronny’s potential
Lakers coach JJ Redick has expressed strong belief in the 20-year-old: “It was obvious to me from the moment I started spending time with him on the court this summer, he was certainly going to be an NBA player, and I still believe that. He’ll be an NBA player,” Redick said after Bronny scored 17 points against the Milwaukee Bucks in March, his highest-scoring NBA game.
Redick added that Bronny had improved in several areas, including playmaking and decision-making, which boosted his confidence and aggression on the court.
Looking ahead to season two
So what can fans expect from Bronny’s second NBA season?
LeBron’s personal trainer, Chris Brickley, is optimistic but urges patience. Speaking on Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM, Brickley said: “Bronny is actually really good. I think he’s just gonna peak like in a year or two from now on.”
Brickley also defended Bronny against critics. Beyond the pressure of living up to his surname, Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest caused by a congenital heart defect in July 2023, less than a year before being drafted by the Lakers in 2024.
“It is messed up. We can swear on this, right? That’s fucked up, because at the end of the day, he didn’t choose to be LeBron’s son,” Brickley said.
“People don’t understand that before his freshman year he had that heart stuff. Like, I think he had a seizure or he passed out. He had something major, so he couldn’t play half the season.”
NBA fans take note
Despite the challenges, Bronny James’ potential is clear. The young guard’s growth on and off the court suggests that peak Bronny is on the way.
