NBA teams work on record-breaking Kevin Durant trade: How many teams are involved?
The future Hall of Famer looks set to join the Houston Rockets but the terms of the trade are complicating matters.

For two weeks it has looked like Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant is on his way to the Houston Rockets, but the terms of the deal keep getting crazier.
On Thursday The Athletic reported that the trade could be expanded to include seven teams, making it the most teams in a single trade in NBA history. The Suns and the Rockets are yet to confirm terms on the proposed blockbuster trade but league sources report that they continuing to work on the deal.
The other teams involved in the deal are thought to be the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
The key points of the proposed trade, as it stands, are that Durant would join the Rockets, while Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green would be heading to the Suns. Clint Capela could also be joining the Rockets, just days after he signed a three-year deal in Houston worth $21.5 million.
Deals of this scale are always difficult to pull off but the key parties appear willing to push ahead with this proposal. If it can be confirmed, it would beat the six-team trade from last summer that saw Klay Thompson join the Dallas Mavericks.
The Durant trade hangs on a number of figures from his past who are now at Houston. Most significantly, head coach Ime Udoka worked alongside Durants during his time as assistant coach of the Brooklyn Nets and is thought to be a big supporters of the trade.
Udoka’s assistant, Royal Ivey, played with Durant at the Oklahoma City Thunder and is a close friend of his to this day. Finally, one of Durant’s University of Texas teammates, D.J. Augustin, was recently added to the Houston front office, further strengthening the links between the 15-time NBA All-Star and the Rockets.
