NBA veteran Patrick Beverley is heading overseas. Where will he play next?
After a colorful career in the NBA, the defensive stalwart is set for a new adventure across the pond, but where is he heading and who will he play for?
From the Lakers to the Bucks, Patrick Beverly has been around the block but it appears that’s done nothing to curb his enthusiasm for the game. Indeed, he will now take his defensive skills overseas as he embarks on what will almost certainly be an interesting time in Israel.
Patrick Beverley heads to Hapoel Tel Aviv BC
On Tuesday, veteran NBA guard Patrick Beverley took to social media to announce that he will be signing with Hapoel Tel Aviv BC of the Israeli Premier League, the country’s highest-ranking basketball league. “They gave me everything I asked for,” Beverley said of the Israeli club. “I couldn’t refuse.”

Now, while Beverley’s decision is somewhat surprising, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time he will be playing overseas. Following his college career at Arkansas, the 36-year-old began his professional career with stints in both Greece and Russia before finally returning to the United States in 2012, when he joined the Houston Rockets. From there he would go on to play more than 12 seasons in the NBA during which time he was named to the All-Defensive team three times - including the first team in 2016-17. He also picked up the 2016-17 Hustle Award for his sensational defensive efforts on the court.
Most recently, Beverley found himself playing for the Milwaukee Bucks with whom he played what now appears to be his last game on May 2nd, a season-ending loss to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of this year’s playoffs. Needless to say it was not one of his finest moments, a notion further cemented by the fact that he threw a basketball at fans behind the Bucks’ bench twice during the final moments of the contest. For his troubles he was banned for four games but will understandably escape that punishment now that he’s heading to pastures anew.
In total, Beverley notched 666 games in the NBA with an average of 8.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while playing for seven different teams in the league including the above-mentioned Rockets and Bucks as well as the Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and Philadelphia 76ers.
