The World Cup this year and the Olympic Games in Paris next year will be the last two competitions for the captain of the French basketball team. Batum announced earlier that he would retire from the national team after the Paris Games, and his wife Aurelia says that this decision has been slightly changed and refers to the end of his professional career.

Niko decided to end his career (in the NBA and national team) after the Olympics, this will be his last season with the Clippers,Aurelia wrote on her Twitter.

Batum has had a prosperous professional career spanning 17 years, starting in Le Mans before moving to the NBA two years later. He spent seven seasons with the Portland Trailblazers and briefly played for Nancy during the NBA lockout. From 2015 to 2020, he played for the Charlotte Hornets before joining the Los Angeles Clippers in 2020.

Batum has achieved great success with the French national team, winning gold at the European Championship in 2013 and earning one silver and one bronze in other European competitions. He has also won silver twice at the World Championship and once at the Olympic Games.

With Mundobasket starting on August 25th, Batum, still the captain of the ‘tricolori’ team, is poised to continue his winning streak.
