No news on Durant as Knicks press on with Donovan Mitchell trade

After weeks of hiatus in talks, the Knicks and Jazz are back in negotiations over a move for Donovan Mitchell.

The Knicks are back on the attack as the NBA whiles away the summer and thoughts turn to training camps and the beginning of the preseason. Two major trade stories have made the headlines during the offseason, the situations relating to Kevin Durant and Donovan Mitchell.

There seems to have been little or no development in a possible move for Durant with the Nets asking a price too prohibitive for many with the forward now entering the ‘threatening phase’ (not showing up to training camp, not playing...) to tighten the screws. Not Durant directly....yet, but his entourage have been happy to let these veiled threats slip put to the press.

Durant doesn’t want to play for the Nets and the franchise doesn’t want to ‘give away’ a unique and talented player and underpin the project that seemed destined for the best and is about to disappear without leaving any trail of glory behind. As things stand, there only seems to be one viable suitor in Boston with with Jaylen Brown potentially being used in any trade.

Mitchell moves closer to NY

Donovan Mitchell seems closer to a change of scenery with NY Knicks in pursuit of the 25-year-old with the Jazz apparently open to a sale, as they did with Rudy Gobert.

According to The Athletic, talks have resumed between both sides but a full agreement is still some way off for the player who averages almost 24 points. But with both sides eager to conclude the deal, the Jazz want to sell, the Knicks want to buy, surely it’s only a matter of time before we see Mitchell at the Garden in the Knicks jersey.
