The Rockets did cut the lead to within 10 again in the fourth quarter, but Murray, Jokic, Porter and Christian Braun were too much for this young and improving team. The Nuggets improve their undefeated home win streak to start the season while the Rockets will have to wait to snap their seven game road losing streak.
We are used to seeing Jokic post 30 point triple doubles, but Nuggets fans will be more excited with the 30 point performance on 11/17 from the field and 7/12 from DT.

Nikola Jokic missed the Nuggets previous game against the Clippers with a minor back injury, but came back in full force against the Rockets. He had only his second dunk of the season with this dash to the rack and finish over Sengun.
The role players have had to step up for the Nuggets in Murray's absence. Jamal came back on Wednesday, but it was Michael Porter Jr. who stole the show. He started hot and stayed hot, hitting four first quarter threes as the Nuggets hit 7/10 from downtown in the opening 12 minutes.
Jamal Murray made his long awaited return after an 11 game absence in which the Nuggets went 6-5. He injured his ankle in the first three minutes of the game, but came back and looked like he was unaffected by his hamstring or the twisted ankle.

Tonight's odds
The Nuggets return home as a 10 point favorites with the Over/Under set at 217.5 from Ball Arena.
With Murray and Jokic back? There's no question who I'm taking. Nuggets -10 all day!
Nuggets win 109-84
Home sweet home
Both the Nuggets and the Rockets enjoy the comforts of home cooking. The Nuggets have a perfect record of 8-0 at home, while the Rockets have only lost one of their nine games at the Toyota Center. The problem comes when these two teams hit the road. Denver has lost six of their ten games away from Ball Arena while the Rockets have yet to win a game on the road. Wouldn’t it be wild if this young team got their first away win on the floor of the defending champions.
Western Conference Standings
It’s early in the season, but it’s never too early to start looking at the standings. The Minnesota Timberwolves are the surprise of the season, leading the Western Conference with 13 wins and just 4 losses a month into the season. The Nuggets are sitting below them in second with a record of 12-6, which shouldn’t really worry them considering they were 11-7 after their first 18 games last year. The Rockets are sitting a game over .500 at 8-7, above the Pelicans, Warriors and Clippers who were all playoff teams last year. There is a turning of the tides in the West. The teams who we are used to seeing in the postseason are aging which is making way for the young guns in the league.
Return of Jamal
The last thing the Nuggets want to do is rush Jamal Murray back from his hamstring injury. The All Star guard has battled injury for most of his time in Denver, but we got a look at just how dangerous this team can be when they have Murray running things in the backcourt. They let him rest, recover and fully heal that hamstring before even considering his return, but now he is ready for a return to the hardwood which comes at a perfect time for Denver. The Nuggets were 6-1 before his Murray’s injury, since then they are 6-5, which tells you all you need to know about just how important the Canadian is to his team.
Alperen lifting Rockets off
The Rockets won just 22 games last year, which put them in second to last place in the West at the end of the regular season. They have been at the bottom of the barrel for a few years now, but things look like they are starting to turn around in Houston. Alperen Sengun is one of the main reasons for the sudden turnaround of one of the worst teams in the league last season. He leads the Rockets with 20.9 points a game and 9.1 rebounds. We started to see signs of his abilities last year, but this season he has taken the reigns and is the top scoring option for Ime Udoka’s team.
Role call on role players
The Nuggets were without their two All-Stars on the road last game, but that didn’t stop them from topping the Clippers at the Crypto.com Arena. The role players stepped up and showed that they can carry the team in the absence of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic. Jokic’s injury was a minor one that won’t keep him on the sidelines for the long term, but last game showed that Reggie Jackson, DeAndre Jordan and KCP can manage the workload if they are forced to.
Nuggets last game
The Nuggets took a quick trip to LA to take on the Clippers and it was a couple of former Clips who took charge against their old team. Jamal Murray was out with a hamstring injury and Nikola Jokic sat out the game in LA due to a lower back injury. That meant the Nuggets were going to need someone to step up. Reggie Jackson scored a season high 35 points and dished 13 assists while DeAndre Jordan looked like the DeAndre Jordan of yesteryear, posting 21 and 13 rebounds. The Clippers had a nine point lead heading into the fourth quarter, but Denver held Kawhi Leonard and the Clips to just 16 points in the final 12 minutes.
Rockets last game
The Rockets had a chance to advance to the next round of the first ever NBA In-Season Tournament, but Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks ended their run with a big fourth quarter as the Slovenian ended the game with 41, 9 and 9. Kyrie Irving came in the second half, scoring 22 of his 29 in the final 24 minutes and helping over come a Rockets four point lead to start the final quarter. Alperen Sengun led the Rockets on a 31 point night in which he added 9 rebounds and six assists.
