Seth Curry’s reluctant Warriors reunion with Steph: “Definitely not my preferred choice”
The younger Curry brother joins Golden State for the new NBA season, despite having not been desperate to play alongside Steph.

There look set to be two Currys on the Golden State Warriors roster for the 2025-26 NBA season after Seth Curry agreed to a one-year deal to link up with big brother Steph in California.
Seth Curry’s Warriors deal explained
As reported by NBA correspondents Marc Stein and Shams Charania, the Warriors have signed Curry to an Exhibit 9 contract, a one-year, non-guaranteed training camp deal. This type of contract is designed to protect a team financially if a player suffers a significant injury in preseason or training camp.

The initial deal is only for training camp, although Golden State is expected to waive and then re-sign Curry once the regular season begins and they have the required apron flexibility to remain within the NBA’s salary-cap rules.
This will potentially be the first time the Curry brothers play together as teammates in the NBA. Seth was briefly signed to the Warriors in 2013, but he only played in six preseason games and was waived before the 2013-14 season began.
Seth Curry on Steph: “I enjoy being away from him”
The family reunion is not something many expected, including Seth himself. Speaking to Dubs Talk, a Warriors-focused podcast, in July 2022, he made it clear he was not desperate to play alongside his brother.
“I’ve thought about it as people bring it up, but to me personally, I enjoy kind of being away from him, trying to create my own path and do my own thing,” Curry said.
“I wouldn’t be against it, but it’s definitely not my preferred choice to be on the same team as him right now. I also like competing against him and trying to beat the best.”
A journeyman with sharpshooting credentials
The Warriors will be Seth Curry’s 10th NBA team. He played one game each for the Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2013-14 season before joining the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, Dallas Mavericks (three times), Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets, and Charlotte Hornets.
Although Seth’s career has been less decorated than Steph’s, he led the league in 3-point shooting accuracy (45.6%) last season with the Hornets. He ranks seventh in NBA history in career three-point field goal percentage (43.3%), six places ahead of Steph (42.3%).
