Four-time NBA champion (three with the Lakers and one with Miami) Shaquille O’Neal spoke about one of the hottest topics in the competition: Kevin Durant’s trade request to leave the Brooklyn Nets.

The 50-year-old member of the Hall of Fame gave his thoughts on the matter on The Rich Eisen Show. The NBA legend described the situation by using a strange metaphor.

“When you put a house together, you should live in it,” the center began. “You were the one who hired the architect, as a leader, have to make it work, but you don’t want it to work; I guess you should go buy another house,” Shaq explained.

“I know he’s probably trying to get to a contender. It’s easier that way”, concluded the man who was MVP of the competition in 2000. Shaq, critical of the situation, did not end there.

Recalling the rumors that put Kevin Durant in Boston in exchange for Jaylen Brown, O’Neal explained that, if it were him, they would keep the 25-year-old player from the Celtics who was chosen for the All Star last season. “We can build, we can trust. I’d keep him. Would I trade Jaylen? The answer is ‘Hell, no’” he ended.
