Steph Curry hits five full court baskets in a row, was it a fake?
A video of the Golden State Warriors player slotting five baskets in a row from around 90ft has gone viral, but did he really do it?
Did Steph Curry hit five full court baskets in a row? Alas no.
Yesterday, Sunday, Sports Illustrated posted this video apparently showing Curry splashing five in a row from nearly the full length of the court, around 90 ft. (The full court is 94 ft)
But was it real? No doubt Curry is an absolute machine at splashing buckets from distance (105 three-pointers in a row!) but Janie McCauley, AP Sports Writer based in San Francisco, who covers the Golden State Warriors, reached out to the franchise who confirmed that it’s not real.
Note that between every shot Curry disappears from the frame - allowing for some neat editing. What we don’t know yet is whether Steph hit these five full court baskets, just not in a row and they were then spliced together. Our bet would be yes, he did hit them, just not one after another.
Note too the handle copied in to the tweet from Sports Illustrated @ari_fararooy, he’s a legendary video editor who works with all manner of celebrities and brands to created impactful footage.
