The US Men’s National Basketball Team is getting ready for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

After coming in seventh place in the last World Cup, Team USA has chosen their players with an objective in mind: beating the current defending Spanish champions.

A team of 12 players, including NBA talents like Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, and Austin Reaves, is ready for the tournament. This team has new leaders: Grant Hill, who is taking charge as executive director for his first big international event, and Steve Kerr, who is coaching a national team for the first time.

In the opening stage of the Group Phase, starting on August 26, the United States will face Greece, Jordan, and New Zealand as part of Group C.

2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup dates and location

  • Dates: August 25 to September 10
  • Locations: Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines
  • The games begin on August 25 with the Group Phase. The Final Phase, where teams get eliminated, starts on September 5. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday, September 10, at 8:40 a.m. ET.
