The Dallas Mavericks interested in Rudy Gobert
The Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic’s team, are prepared to negotiate for France international Rudy Gobert if Utah Jazz release him…
Rudy Gobert’s name has started to get mentioned quite a bit in Dallas. The franchise would be willing to take on the towering French center if the Jazz allow him to leave. At the moment, he is under a long-term contract, but the chance to play alongside Luka Doncic may be just too tempting to resist.
Gobert is one of the central pieces of the franchise and is under contract with the Jazz until 2025. Dallas meanwhile, have been following his progress and are looking at a possible deal in the near future.
Dallas keen to shore up their defence
After trading Porzingis, one of their best interior players, to the Wizards, bringing in Gobert, a defensive specialist, would give the team greater solidity in their own side of the court.
It’s safe to say that this season isn’t turning out as well as the last for Utah, but they are a team to keep in mind. Gobert is averaging 15.4 points, 14.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks over the whole season. When the season ends, Quin Snyder’s team could be subjected to a revamp with new faces coming in and others going out - among them, Gobert.
Dallas’ project on the other hand is looking much more ambitious. They have been rewarded after Kristaps’ departure and are currently third in the Conference. For the moment, it’s just the usual gossip and rumours doing the rounds, but the fact that Gobert would be thrilled to play alongside Doncic could be the catalyst for the Mavs to go out and get him in the offseason.
