Update:

The Oklahoma City Thunder enjoyed a record-breaking night at Paycom Center on Wednesday, as Mark Daigneault’s men swept to a blowout win to level their Western Conference semifinals series with the Denver Nuggets.

Thunder amass record first-half points total

Chasing a place in the conference finals for the first time since 2016, the Thunder scored a historic 87 points in the first half of Game 2 in Oklahoma, on their way to a 149-106 victory that tied the series at 1-1.

Oklahoma City’s first-half points haul is the highest that’s ever been registered in the opening 24 minutes of an NBA Playoffs game, edging out the Cleveland Cavaliers’ record of 86, set in Game 4 of the 2017 Finals against the Golden State Warriors.

What’s more, the Thunder have equalled the record for the most points in any half of a Playoffs game. In 1978, the Milwaukee Bucks managed 87 against the Nuggets, in the second half of Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals.

Meanwhile, the Thunder’s overall tally of 149 is a franchise record for a Playoffs game, and is only eight points shy of the NBA’s highest postseason total.

In 1990, the Boston Celtics racked up an unparalleled 157 points in Game 2 of their first-round series against the New York Knicks.

“Just us being who we are”, says OKC coach

Having seen his team slip to a 121-119 in Game 1 on Monday, Oklahoma City head coach Daigneault said his team - which is the No. 1 seed in the West - had resumed normal service in Wednesday’s comprehensive win.

“I didn’t really look at tonight as a response as much as I looked at tonight as just us being who we are, and that’s how we’ve been all season,” Daigneault said post-game, per the Associated Press.

We don’t really respond to the last game. When we win, we don’t have more confidence. When we lose, we don’t have more urgency.

"I think this team has a really good baseline that we just try to return to every day when the sun comes up and we have a game. And I thought that’s what tonight was.”
