These four teams are interested in LeBron James if he leaves the Lakers
As LeBron James gears up for his 23rd NBA season, speculation is heating up over whether he could be on the move from the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron James opted into the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, locking in a $52.6 million salary for the 2025–26 season. But despite committing for one more year, the four-time NBA champion has made it clear he’s evaluating the best situation to make another run at a title.

With no extension currently on the table and free agency looming in 2026, rumors of a potential exit are starting to swirl.
LeBron will break new ground this year, becoming the first player in NBA history to reach a 23rd season, surpassing the mark set by Vince Carter (22 seasons). At 40 years old, he’s still producing at an elite level—last season, he averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds across 70 games.

Lakers pivot toward Luka Doncic
The Lakers finished the regular season with a 50–32 record, good for third in the Western Conference. But they were bounced in the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves, raising questions about the team’s title prospects moving forward.
Luka Doncic’s arrival from the Dallas Mavericks has changed the equation in L.A. The Slovenian superstar has energized the Lakers, and all signs point to him becoming the franchise centerpiece in the years ahead.
Four teams have reached out about LeBron
During the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, LeBron’s agent Rich Paul told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that four teams have shown interest in potentially acquiring the Lakers star.
Paul emphasized that LeBron hasn’t requested a trade, nor have there been any discussions with the Lakers about the possibility.
Still, Paul reportedly mentioned that the teams showing interest are the Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Los Angeles Clippers.

While there’s no indication a move is imminent, it’s clear that LeBron—still one of the league’s most influential and productive players—would instantly reshape the title hopes of any contender that lands him.
