After an impressive WNBA All-Star Game debut for both rookies, it was the Sky’s rookie who took a moment to address the prospect of playing alongside her rival in four years time for what she hopes will be their Olympic Games debut.

Angel Reese wants to join forces with Caitlin Clark in the next Olympic Games

What a season it’s been so far for the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese and the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark. Indeed, as both rookies have continued to wow the nation it would be fair to say that they have well and truly lived up to the hype as both have broken age-old WNBA records, while also displaying the kind of character and poise that will undoubtedly make them the most recognizable faces in the league for many years to come. In their most recent outing, the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game on Saturday night, they helped Team WNBA defeat Team USA in a high-scoring affair that ended 117-109.

On the night, Reese registered yet another double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Clark contributed 10 assists, something she’s becoming frighteningly good at doing as evidenced by the recent assist record that she set. Of course, the extra layer of context is that neither will be part of Team USA when it heads to the 2024 Paris Olympics which get underway later this week on Friday, July 26th. That said, Reese doesn’t appear to be losing any sleep over it but rather is already looking forward to the next summer games in 2028.

Speaking during an in-game interview on Saturday, Reese made it clear that she hopes they can team up again in four years time for what will be their first Olympics. “Hopefully in 4 years we’ll be Olympians together,” she said. With that, the apparent rivals can now look forward to a little R&R as they have almost three weeks of vacation before the respective WNBA campaigns get underway again. The Sky and Reese will be back on the court on August 15th, while Clark and Co. will get going once again just one day later on August 16th.
