Timberwolves star agrees nine-figure Minnesota contract extension: what to know
After reaching the Western Conference Finals for the second year in a row, the Timberwolves are set to tie a key player down to a new deal.

Naz Reid has reached an agreement to re-sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves on a five-year, $125 million deal, ESPN reported Friday.
NBA insider Shams Charania added that the contract - which cannot be made official until July 6 - includes a player option for the 2029-30 season.
Award-winning T’Wolves big man
Reid, who was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year in 2024, has become one of the league’s most valuable big men thanks to his ability to stretch the floor with his outside shooting.
The 25-year-old center declined a $15 million player option for the upcoming season but ultimately secured a far more lucrative deal to remain in Minnesota.

Undrafted out of LSU in 2019, Reid averaged 14.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists last season while shooting 46.2% from the field and 37.9% from three-point range.
He played a key role for a Timberwolves team that has reached the Western Conference Finals in back-to-back seasons, though they’ve yet to break through to the NBA Finals.
