Toronto Raptors 111 vs 118 Milwaukee Bucks summary: stats and highlights | NBA
The Milwaukee Bucks got back to their winning ways in a tight game against the Toronto Raptors at Fiserv Forum on Sunday night. Brook Lopez took over in the final quarter and carried the league leaders to the 118-111 victory.
Bucks bounce back
It’s not often that the Bucks lose in the confines of their own home, but they were shocked by the Indiana Pacers last week, and it looked like they were on the verge of suffering a second straight home loss against the Raptors.
They got off the block quickly in their return to the Forum, hitting seven threes in the first quarter, but it became quite clear that they were having trouble stopping Toronto.
The game was close throughout, and neither team climbed up to a double digit lead at any moment during the night. Giannis did a better job of staying on the floor, after battling foul trouble against the Pacers but that didn’t mean he went wild scoring. He did go 9/9 from the field, mostly dunks and lay ups, but he did a little bit of everything in another all around masterpiece.
Triple double for Antetokounmpo
The Greek piled up 22 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in what was a relatively quiet triple double for the Bucks. It was his fourth triple double of the year, but the Raptors went into the fourth quarter in the lead after catching fire in the third quarter much like the Pacers did in the last game against the Bucks.
Fred VanVleet, O.G. Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr. all stepped up in a quarter that saw the visitors score 39 points. VanVleet led the Raptors with 23 while Anunoby had another 22 points and Trent Jr. poured in five threes.
The Raptors were up by seven going into the final quarter, but then Brook Lopez pulled the suit off and revealed the “S” on his chest for the rest of the game. He began the quarter with two straight AND 1’s and a dunk to go on an individual 8-0 run to give the lead back to the Bucks. He ended the quarter scoring 17 of his 26 points to polish off the Raptors.
Rematch to close the regular season
Once the Bucks got the lead, that’s when the defense started to kick in. They shut down VanVleet and Anunoby for the rest of the way and kept the Raptors to just 19 points in the fourth quarter to snap their three game win streak.
The Bucks are now 29-7 this year at home and they look like a good bet to finish the season with the league’s best record. The Raptors meanwhile will head back home for a four game stretch before hitting the road for five games. Both of these teams will close the season against each other and plenty could still be on the line by that time.
JeVon Carter only had 9 points, but waited until the most important part of the night to hit this corner three with the Raptors breathing down their neck.
We saw shade of Brook that we hadn't seen in years. Lopez literally put the Bucks on his back carried them for the rest of the way. He ended the night with 26, 17 of which were scored in the final quarter.
It was far from his most busy night, but he chipped in on all facets. He had 22, 13 and 10 on the night.
The Bucks lost the lead, and went into the final quarter down, but Lopez made sure that wasn't going to last. He started the fourth with a personal 8-0 run.

Giannis did a little bit of everything for the Bucks on Sunday. While his triple double didn't consist of blocks, he did have this one on Siakam.

The Bucks drilled seven threes in the first quarter, including this one from Giannis. He didn't have an eye popping night from the field, but he did finish with a triple double.

Brook Lopez is back in the starting line up after missing the Pacers game, and a bit of a surprise to see Grayson Allen in as a starter to begin tonight against the Raptors.
This is Nick Nurse's starting five for tonight's game against the Bucks. Fred Vanvleet and Pascal Siakam are the stars of the show, but they will need plenty of support from their roll players tonight from Fiserv Forum.
Eastern Conference outlook
Taking a look at the standings in the East, we see the league leading Bucks with a two game lead over the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia 76ers. With their win over the Suns last week, they became the first team with 50 wins, and the first team to clinch a playoff spot this season. The Raptors are sitting in 9th in the East with a record of 35-36 which would have them in the Play-In Tournament if the season ended today. They are 2.5 games back of the Heat who are in 6th place, and would avoid the Play-In, but just three games above the 11th placed Pacers who would miss out on the Play-In.
Bucks in the building
The Bucks are looking for a big bounce back, and so is Giannis who was frustrated by foul trouble last game. It’s not often that he has two back to back subpar performances, so expect him to come out firing against this Raptors team that struggles on the road.
Toronto in the house
The Raptors have two more road trips this season. This one, which starts and ends with their game against the Bucks, and then a five game road swing to begin the month of April. They are just 12-23 away from Scotiabank Stadium. Only six teams have a worse record on the road, so Scotty Barnes and the Raptors will need a near miracle to top the Bucks who just lost their seventh game at home all season.
Bucks looking for a bounce back
Milwaukee returned from a West coast swing on Thursday night, and went up against a wounded, but desperate Pacers team. The night got off to a great start for the Bucks who posted 40 points in the opening quarter, but Giannis Antetokounmpo got himself into some foul trouble early in the second quarter and that affected him and his team for the rest of the game. He picked up his third foul well before halftime, his fourth right after the break, and was walking on eggshells for the rest of the night. Indiana was down nine at half, but came into the second half blazing from long range. Andrew Nembhard had 24 points to lead an Indiana side that had eight players in double digits.
Toronto's last game
Toronto finished off a perfect three game homestead with a crucial win over Minnesota Timberwolves who are in a similar situation as the Raptors in the Western Conference. It was their seventh straight win at the Scotiabank Arena. Once again it was Fred Van Vleet coming to the rescue with 28 points, as he and Pascal Siakam had a fantastic fourth quarter that allowed the Raptors to pull away for their third straight win.
