A key component in what the Warriors have achieved in the series so far, they will definitely be hoping that their shooting guard is good to go on Sunday night.

With the Warriors leading the series 2-0 one might think that there is nothing to worry about, but with doubts surrounding a key player, things could get interesting.

Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins is ‘questionable’ ahead of Game 3

According to reports Golden State Warriors forward Andrew Wiggins has been listed as questionable ahead of Game 3 in their Western Conference Finals series with the Dallas Mavericks. Wiggins who is suffering with with left ankle soreness appeared to have tweaked the ankle late in the third quarter of Game 2 on Friday night. The moment came after he seemingly landed awkwardly, following an attempted shot. With that said, it would appear that the Warriors are not seriously concerned.

“I expect him to play,” said Warriors head coach Steve Kerr on Saturday. “It’s just standard procedure when somebody gets an injury, you have to report it. Technically he’s questionable, but we expect him to play.” Indeed, Kerr went on to explain that he had no idea that Wiggins had pain and discomfort until he was informed of the fact by the PR staff who told him that the player was now on the injury report.

The importance of Andrew Wiggins

Assuming his coach’s take on his ‘injury’ is spot on, then it will indeed be good news for the Lakers as Wiggins’ value can’t be overstated. Not only has he been averaging 17.5 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists through the first two games, but he has been the primary player tasked with handling Dallas’ superstar Luka Doncic and it should be said that he’s done so quite credibly. In Game 1 Wiggins actually limited Doncic to 5-for-11 shooting which turned out to be on of the worst playoff games of Doncic’s career.

What can we expect from Warriors vs Mavericks Game 3?

Though the Warriors have a ‘small ball’ line up with the likes of Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green all being relatively diminutive players, they are without doubt one of the most feared line ups in the NBA. Why mention their size? Simply because they have quite frankly dominated the Mavericks around the ring. Golden State’s center Kevon Looney had a career high 21 points in Game 2 and essentially was able to score 10 shots from close proximity relatively uncontested. With the Warriors having outscored the Mavs 106-62 in the series so far, it would be safe to assume we’re going to see more of the same unless Dallas somehow manages to switch gears.

“It’s always something that I dreamed about and envisioned,” Looney said of being an NBA postseason difference-maker. “Always say: Keep working, your time is going to come. Steve always talks about: You’re always going to get an opportunity playing on this team. You have to take full advantage of it.”
