Warriors battling five NBA teams to land veteran All-Star Al Horford
Golden State looks to replace Kevon Looney with a proven veteran as Horford draws widespread interest in free agency.

The Golden State Warriors are wasting no time reshaping their roster after parting ways with longtime center Kevon Looney, who is set to join the New Orleans Pelicans following a decade-long stint in the Bay Area.
As NBA free agency heats up, front offices around the league are working overtime to find the right pieces to complement their rosters. For Golden State, that means targeting seasoned veterans who can contribute immediately—and one name turning heads is Al Horford.

According to insider Michael Scotto, the five-time All-Star is drawing interest from multiple contenders, including the Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and even a possible return to the Boston Celtics.
Horford, represented by agent Jason Glushon, remains a dependable presence on both ends of the floor. In his most recent season with the Celtics, the 39-year-old big man averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game while shooting an efficient 36.3% from beyond the arc.

With Looney’s departure creating a clear void in the frontcourt, Golden State sees Horford as a potential plug-and-play solution—someone who brings leadership, playoff experience, and floor spacing to a team that’s looking to stay competitive in a stacked Western Conference.
Whether Horford chooses the Warriors or another suitor remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear: the veteran still has plenty to offer—and teams are taking notice.
