WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM LA!!!
Klay Thompson is back in the starting line up after putting up 32 against the Jazz last game. He is joined by Curry, Wiggins, Green and Jackson-Davis.
AD was a late scratch about an hour before the game which means Jaxson Hayes is going to plug into the starting five, joining LeBron, Rui, Russell, and Reaves.
How the West is shaping up
Taking a look at the standings there are so many scenarios that could play out in the last week of the regular season. We see the Warriors in the 10 spot currently, and they have an extra game to make up against the Jazz which makes their 1.5 games back of the Lakers seem not too out of grasp, especially if they get a win tonight. The Lakers would love to get a top 6 spot, but basically everything that has to got exactly right for them to get there considering they are a game and a half behind the Pelicans in 7th and the Suns in 6th with the Kings nestled in there a half game in front of LA in 8th. If the Lakers can win out, their regular season finale against the Pelicans could be huge in determining who avoids the Play-In game.
LeBron in, AD out
Like Steph, LeBron and AD were kept on the bench last game to ensure they would be 100% for tonight’s massive showdown against the Warriors. AD and James were listed on the injury report coming into tonight, Davis is out with left eye soreness after getting hit in the face in the first quarter of last game but LeBron will play after being listed with flu like symptoms. LeBron is averaging 25.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 8.2 assists this season and has shown his ability to still take over games in the snap of the fingers. AD is getting 24.5 points and 12.6 rebounds but needs to be healthy to be at his best for their postseason run.
Curry back tonight
Steph Curry got some rest last game against the Utah Jazz for one sole reason. This game tonight. Steve Kerr and Steph know how important this game may be when it comes to their Play-In survival and ultimate playoffs chances. Steph will be more than ready to have another memorable performance at the Crypto.com Arena. He and LeBron aren’t showing any signs of aging, with Steph averaging 26.5, 4.4 and 5 assists. We have to start appreciating these matchups between LeBron and Curry like they are the last ones we might see, because there isn’t much more time to watch the best players of this generation go head to head too many more times.
Lakers last game
The Lakers had won 9 of previous 10 before dropping last game to Minnesota on the second end of a back-to-back series. It was a tough match up against one of the top teams in the conference, so Darvin Ham sat LeBron and Anthony Davis in preparations for the final three games of the season. Rui Hachimura had 30 points filling in for the injured stars and Jaxson Hayes dropped 19 and 10 off the bench but it wasn’t enough to take down the T’Wolves who got 31 points off 6/8 shooting from three by Naz Reid and another 26 and 8 assists from Anthony Edwards. The Lakers know to have any chance at a top 6 spot, they need to win out in their next four games, starting tonight.
Warriors last game
The Warriors bounced back after a devastating two point loss to the Mavericks over the weekend with a comfortable win over the Utah Jazz. Golden State dropped 41 point in the first quarter to set the tone and never slowed down thanks to a 32 point performance from Klay Thompson in a game that Steph Curry sat to prepare for the final few games of the season. With Curry on the bench, Thompson got the start and thrived as the anchor of and offense that finished the game with 32 assists and out rebounded the Jazz 47-29. It was an easy win, but they know the next four games will be must wins if they are going to move out of their 10th spot in the West.
We are live from the Crpyt
Hello everyone and welcome to LA where the Lakers are coming into tonight’s game hoping to rebound after a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in their last game. They are holding off the Warriors at the moment while eyeing an outside chance at a top 6 finish but know there is no room for error tonight against a Warriors team that have won seven of their last eight. Golden State need to avoid a situation in which they have to win two games on the road in the Play-In just to get to the playoffs, and they take a big step towards that here tonight.
Warriors vs. Lakers
It’s a late season showdown that has the feel of a playoff game as two teams at the bottom of the postseason picture in the West battle it out to try to get the best position possible. Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors head to LA to take on LeBron James and the Lakers in a battle between the current 9 and 10 seeds. AS English will be with you all night providing live coverage, stats, highlights an analysis of tonight’s game from Crypto.com Arena.
