Warriors vs Knicks odds and predictions: Who is the favorite for Monday night’s NBA game?
The Knicks will be in the Bay Area to take on the Warriors who are fresh from a big win against LeBron James and the Lakers. Can they derail Curry and Co.?
At present the New York Knicks are sitting on a 39-28 record in the East, while the Golden State Warriors are working with 35-31. Both teams are led by players who rank within the top 10 scorers in the league. At 27 points per game, the Warriors’ Steph Curry sits at eighth in the league, while New York’s Jalen Brunson is sixth with 27.3 ppg.
The New York Knicks are on the up
Having won four of their last give games, the New York Knicks are on a bit of a run. Indeed, if they can manage to take on the Golden State Warriors on Monday night, that will make it four straight wins, after taking down the Sacramento Kings 98-91 on Saturday night. One of the main reasons for their form of late has been the contribution of Jalen Brunson. Against the Kings, the 27-year-old exploded for a team-high 42 points on 17 of 28 shooting. Of course, there was also Donte DiVincenzo who put an additional 15 points on the board with five of 16 shooting, while Alec Burks registered a further 12 points off the bench.
On the whole, the Knicks shot just 43 percent from the field and 11 of 39 from the 3-point line as they began to dominate Sacramento’s side, evidenced by the 32 points that the team scored in the second quarter, however, they it should be said that they weren’t able to truly put down the Kings until the fourth quarter when they were able to limit them to just 17 points. With that, win the streak was maintained and so too was the confidence heading into what could be a critical clash with the Warriors.
What about the Warriors and a prediction?
It would be safe to say that the Golden State Warriors have experienced a dip in form recently, having lost four of their last seven games overall. On the other hand, the Dubs secured an important 128-121 road win against the high-flying Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night, something that has forced many to question whether a change in fortunes could be on the cards. On the night, it was all about the usual suspects with team talisman, Steph Curry, contributing with a team-high 31 points, six rebounds, and five assists on 12 of 24 shooting, while his accomplice, Klay Thompson, added another 26 points on nine of 15 shooting off the bench.
Where the supporting cast was concerned, Jonathan Kuminga deserves a nod after chipping in with 23 points and four assists. Overall, the Warriors shot 52 percent from the field and 14 of 34 from the 3-point line as they essentially went crazy with 37 points in the second quarter, taking a slim lead into halftime. Once play resumed, they drained another 35 points in the third quarter to take a 12-point lead which was understandably more than enough to secure a hard-fought win over LeBron James and his teammates.
In terms of an outright prediction in this one - you can see the odds above - there are a few things to consider. Firstly we’ve got the health of the rosters. Where the Knicks are concerned, Mitchell Robinson and Julius Randle are still out which is not ideal. Conversely, the Warriors - as was the case against the Lakers - will once again be able to count on a fully fit roster. This brings us to the form of both teams. As mentioned above, the Knicks despite injury concerns are coming into Monday’s game on a bit of a streak, while the Warriors aren’t. That said, Curry and Co. looked very solid in their win over the Lakers. So, what can we expect? With Curry back in the fold and nobody listed on the injury report, it’s hard to ignore the idea that we’re probably about to see the Warriors go on a run of their own, starting with the Knicks are Saturday night.
