Warriors 109 vs 119 Mavericks summar: stats and highlights NBA Western Conference Finals
The Dallas Mavericks got a win with their backs against the wall and extended the Western Conference Finals for at least another game. Luka Doncic led the way for the Mavs with 31 points in the 119-109 win on Tuesday night.
Mavs role players finally appear
Dallas finally came in and showed the sense of urgency you’d expect from a team in the Western Conference Finals, while the Golden State Warriors played like a team that could afford to lose a game or two, which the can.
Luka was carrying a heavy portion of the scoring load coming into Game 4, and finally got the help he was looking for on the offensive end. It started early when Reggie Bullock, Maxi Kleber and Dorian Finney-Smith all hit two threes in the first quarter to set the tone for the Mavs offense.
Dallas catches fire in Game 4
The hot shooting continued in the second quarter, and helped spark a 20-2 run for the Mavericks. The three point shooting was a big part of the Mavs success late in the year, in the post season and again on Tuesday night. They started the game 11-20 from long range, and had 19 threes at the end of the third quarter.
They wouldn’t reach the NBA Playoff record 25 threes, as they cooled down considerably in the fourth quarter, once most of the starters had come out. The lead stretched to 29 at the end of the third quarter, and it seemed like the Mavs were going to coast to Game 5, but the Warriors had other ideas.
The 29 point fourth quarter lead was enough for both coaches to start looking towards next game, and rest some of their starters but a quick 9-0 run from the Warriors made things interesting. Golden State continued to chip away and eventually got the lead down to as few as eight points, which forced Mavs coach Jason Kidd to bring his starters back in the game.
Despite the scare, Dallas was able to hold on thanks to Luka Doncic’s 30 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists. The Mavs went 20-43 from beyond the arc including Dorian Finney-Smith’s 23 points on 4-7 shooting from deep. Reggie Bullock had six threes and finished the night with 18 points.
The sights shift out west and the series heads to San Fransico for Game 5. The Mavericks will have their backs against the wall again, down 3-1 knowing no team has ever won comeback from an 0-3 deficit. Tip off from the Chase Center is set for 9 p.m. ET.
The Mavs know they are up against history. No team has ever come back after trailing 0-3, but Luka says the Mavs have to believe.
The Warriors pulled withing 8 in the fourth after trailing by 29, but Doncic and company were able to close out the game and force the series back to California for Game 5.
You could tell from the start that Finney-Smith was in the mood tonight. Most of his damage came from downtown, but this one was a monster slam down the lane.

I have seen a lot of things in basketball, but I don't think I have ever seen a rain delay before. Mark Cuban, owner of the Mavs, does not look like a happy camper in the stands of this dripping American Airlines Center.
The game is being delayed because of a leak on the roof. The drips coming from the ceiling are hitting just off the baseline

Warriors undefeated trio
The Golden State Warriors have never lost a series when Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson have started and completed a series completely healthy. They are a game away from extending that streak tonight.
Luka Doncic this postseason
Doncic is coming off of back to back 40 points games, but his big performances haven’t meant success for the Mavs. He is averaging 34 points a game in this playoff series, and is getting 32.1 a night this post season, but he will need help from guys like Spencer Dinwiddie and Jaylen Brunson.

The best is yet to come says Kidd
Jason Kidd and the Mavericks know they have a steep uphill battle to get back in the series, but insists this is only the beginning. "This is just the beginning of our journey," he claimed after the Game 3 loss. "This is huge for our franchise. It's great to go through this. You can call (the Warriors a) dynasty. They have three great players who will all be Hall of Famers. So we're learning a big lesson. This is not the end. This is just the beginning."
Kerr knows how hard close out games can be
Steve Kerr hasn’t forgotten about the Warriors recent struggles in close out games and is hoping his side can finish the deal tonight. "It's always the toughest game, the close-out game, so we know it will be difficult," he insisted Monday. "I would expect that we've learned from those two games that we lost and we'll have a focused effort (Tuesday)."
