What are the Boston Celtics odds to win 2025 NBA championship? NBA odds for next season
The NBA season just came to a close with the Boston Celtics lifting their 18th Larry O’Brien Trophy, but it’s never too early to start looking to next season.
After a 16 year wait, the Boston Celtics are champions of the NBA once again. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the way in Game 5 as the Celtics hoisted the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the 18th time in franchise history.
Celtics dubbed favorite for next year
They were the best team in the league all season, and deserved winners after finishing the regular season with the top record in the NBA and then losing just three games in the entire playoffs. This is a team that was built to win this year and in the years to come, that’s why they are the early favorites to win it all again next year.
It’s been six seasons since we last saw a team win back-to-back titles, but that hasn’t stopped the odds makers from dubbing the C’s as the way-too-early front runner. There is still a long way between now and the start of the season. A lot can change from now until then. The NBA Draft is coming up at the end of the month. Free agency will certainly shake things up as big names like Jayson Tatum and LeBron James could dip their toes in the market.
The Celtics are likely to hold on to Tatum as the prep a record breaking mega offer, and with the team they have surrounded he and Jaylen Brown, it’s no wonder they are favorites (+280) according to Draft Kings. Sitting right under the Celtics are last year’s champions the Denver Nuggets (+700) who were knocked out of the playoffs this season by the fourth favorite to win it all next season, the Minnesota Timberwolves (+850) who are the up and coming team in the West.
Mavs outside Top 5
Rounding out the Top 5 is the OKC Thunder in third at (+800) are the Milwaukee Bucks (+850) . The Thunder earned the one seed in the West, topping the T’Wolves and the Nuggets while the Bucks had a disastrous season despite bringing in Damian Lillard to join Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The NBA Finalist Dallas Mavericks (+900) are on the outside of the Top 5 favorites, looking in. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are coming back for another year, and their young team that was strung together courtesy of a couple of in season transactions should grow stronger with each game they play.
Some other notable odds for the landmark teams in the league are the New York Knicks (+1400) after their return to the Conference Semifinals. The Warriors are right inside of the Top 10 (+1800) as their dynasty looks to be fading. The Los Angeles Lakers (+2000) odds depend on the where the future of LeBron James lies. That could all depend on who takes his son Bronny in the NBA Draft, but after them the list gets a bit far fetched.
Down low there is a six way tie (+100000) with the Charlotte Hornets, Utah Jazz, Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards and Portland Trail Blazers. None of those teams made the playoffs this season and not much is expected of them next season.
