What are the details of Jordan Poole’s extension with the Golden State Warriors?
With the altercation between him and teammate Draymond Green now seemingly in the past, the Warriors have shown Poole that he’s part of their plans.
Though there has been all manner of uncertainty surrounding the Warriors recently, one thing is now certain and that’s the fact that Jordan Poole is now signed, sealed and delivered.
Jordan Poole and the Warriors are finalizing an extension
Regardless of where you stand on the recent drama involving Draymond Green and Jordan Poole, the fact of the matter is that both were an integral part of a campaign that resulted in the team clinching its fourth NBA title. With that in mind, it makes perfect sense that the Warriors are now in the process of a finalizing an extension with the Poole, which will tie the 23-year-old to the team for the foreseeable future. Indeed, reports indicate that Poole will put pen to paper, on a four-year, $140 million contract extension with the Warriors, that will see him playing with the team through the 2026-27 season.
Jordan Poole is an important cog in the Warriors’ machine
This coming season will be Poole’s fourth with the Warriors, after the team selected him late in the first round - No. 28 overall - of the 2019 NBA Draft. Following a season, in which he definitely established himself as a go to player averaging 18.5 points, four assists and 3.4 rebounds per game, Poole is now an essential part of Golden State’s attack. This of course, brings us to what is likely the question on everybody’s mind: ‘How will the Warriors deal with Jordan Poole and Draymond Green after their fight?’
Do the Warriors have a hand on ‘Poole vs Green?’
As things stand, the reports coming out of the Warriors camp suggest that all is well. Green has been fined and reprimanded and clearly the Warriors have now committed to Poole. What that means, is that for better or worse the pair will be teammates for some time to come. Should we buy into the narrative? Is there more to come in terms of friction between teammates? Ultimately, who’s to say but the one thing that is clear, is that the Warriors have committed to their man and he to them. Perhaps one of the best takes on it all, was that of Dior Ginyard - see his tweet above - which in turn the Falcons’ Lamar Jackson responded to with laughing emojis. Are they wrong?
