What did Draymond Green’s mother have to say about his contract situation with the Warriors?
With the franchise having reportedly made their stance clear, all eyes are now on the veteran forward and more importantly, what he will do.
With various franchises in the midst of contract negotiations, the focus has now centered on the Warriors contentious forward, but how does it all pan out with even his own mother now getting involved?
Draymond Green’s mother isn’t playing around
As seen recently on twitter, Draymond Green’s mother is not at all happy with the situation surrounding her son and the possibilities of him landing a max contract extension. Indeed, ‘Mama Green’ took to the social media platform where she posted a less than pleasant message for detractors - see below. Her move of course comes in the wake of reports which indicated that the Warriors have no intention of offering the veteran forward an extension. Needless to say, fans and fellow players alike also had a thing or two to say.
At 32 years of age, the clock is most definitely ticking for Green’s career, but it would be disrespectful - to say the least - that the Warriors big man wasn’t a central part of their championship run and moreover, can’t repeat the effort in this coming season. With two years remaining on his contract, Green has reportedly made it clear that he “wants and believes he deserves” a four-year max contract extension. With that in mind, it’s clear that Green would like to stay in the Bay, however, it’s understood that he wouldn’t close the door on other options.
Where could Draymond Green end up?
The reality is, where Draymond Green’s future is concerned, it would be premature to start thinking about potential landing spots as there is a lot to unpack in this situation. For starters, as mentioned above Green was a central part of what was a title winning season. Then, there is the fact that it’s widely known that talisman Steph Curry is most definitely a Draymond Green fan, to the extent that the star is understood to be completely against the idea of seeing his teammate leave.
With all that said, there has been chatter about the Detroit Pistons. A ‘Motor Town’ native, Green would likely enjoy a homecoming of sorts were he to make the switch to the Pistons, not to mention his mother would most certainly be happy to have him closer to home. At any rate, there have been no definitive moves from either the franchise or the player at this point, which is to say that while his mother has undoubtedly added fuel to the fire, all we can do is watch and wait with this one.
