On Wednesday, the NBA announced that the Dallas Mavericks $50,000 had been fined for “violating league rules regarding team bench decorum.” In addition, the league reported coaching staff and players violations during their 123-90 Game 7 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday that clinched a spot in the Western Conference Finals.

This is the second violation of this type for the Mavericks this postseason. Their first fine happened during Game 2 against the Suns when the team had to pay $25,000. The team had to pay double the amount due to their previous fine on this occasion.

To continue, the NBA put out a statement where it states that “on numerous occasions, several players and a member of the coaching staff stood for an extended period in the Mavericks’ team bench area, stood away from the team bench, and were on or infringing upon the playing court during the game.”

Mavericks’ coach Jason Kidd criticizes the NBA

On May 6, the Dallas coach told reporters, “I didn’t know we got fined, but that’s cool. You know, the league is worried about the wrong thing. You have millionaires cheering on other millionaires. Doesn’t happen in this society. And the enthusiasm of the game, for a teammate to cheer on another teammate, is special.”

Not much of an issue

Mavs owner and Billionaire Mark Cuban is not too worried about the fines and is said t be more than happy to pay them as they go for a good cause.

The team will now face the Golden State Warriors for game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The Warriors, led by Steph Curry, are the favorites to win the series, but Mavericks star Luka Doncic has been spectacular and could give the Californian team a run for their money.
