Kristaps Porzingis is out with a calf injury. The Boston Celtics’ player was diagnosed with a right soleus strain after pulling up injured in the Celtic’s Game 4 win over the Miami Heat. The soleus is a muscle in the calf.

How long will Kristaps Porzingis be out for?

Porzingis is definitely out of Wednesday’s Game 5 against the Miami Heat, what’s not clear is how long he could be out for in total. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the rather vague “expected to miss a minimum of several games”. Is “several” at least two? Maybe three?

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo picked up the same injury against the Celtics on April 9 and is yet to play - three weeks out, though his camp believe he could be back soon.

What games could Porzingis miss?

The Celtics lead the series against the Heat 3-1; Porzingis is likely to miss the rest of this series, even if it goes the distance. Then, provided the Celtics go through, he could then potentially miss most or all of the second-round series, against either the Cavs or the Magic.

The Eastern Conference finals are scheduled for May 21-22 but are likely to move up, possibly as early as May 19, in just three weeks time. The clock is ticking for Porzingis’ soleus…
