The Miami Heat went into Boston and stunned the top seeded Celtics to even the series up before heading back to South Beach. They got walloped in Game 1 without Jimmy Butler, but punched back with a win over the C’s thanks to some hot shooting from outside.

Heat respond after Game 1 loss

In Game 1, the Heat looked out of sorts on the offensive end without Jimmy Butler. Knocking off the top seeded Celtics was always going to be hard, but doing it without their leading scorer and leader on the floor, the task becomes nearly impossible.

Miami struggled from the field, especially from the perimeter and they were forced to rely on Bam Adebayo all too often. Miami shot 32.4% from downtown in Game 1, but they came out scorching in Game 2.

The Heat went to half-time down 61-58 after a late flurry from Jaylen Brown, but the Heat led for most of the first two quarters thanks to their brilliant shooting from downtown. They have hit 13 threes on 24 attempts and are pace to break the playoff record for threes made by a team in a single game. They came up just short of the playoff record for threes made in a game, but they made 23 in their 111-101 win at TD Garden.

Tyler Herro led his team with 24 points, going 6/11 from downtown while Caleb Martin hit five of his six attempts from three points range. Four other Heat players had multiple three balls and Miami hit 53.5% of their attempts from behind the arc in their Game 2 win.

Miami got the win and had an incredible night from the field, but they came just short of the all-time playoff record. The record of 25 threes made in a postseason game is 25, Cleveland Cavaliers in their first round match up against the Atlanta Hawks in 2016. The Milwaukee Bucks tied that record last year with 25 against the Miami Heat in the opening round of the playoffs. Milwaukee has the all-time record for threes in a regular season game, knocking down 29 against the Heat back in 2020
