Fans of ‘Bo Cruz’ will no longer have to worry about his basketball career, at least for the coming year. Juancho Hernangomez, whose performance in Adam Sandler’s Netflix movie ‘Hustle’ won him a lot more fans in and out of basketball, has landed a contract with the Toronto Raptors, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

After being waived by the Utah Jazz less than a month ago, the Raptors signed the 26-year-old to a partially guaranteed one-year deal for the coming season. The finer points of the agreement have yet to be released.

The power forward was chosen by the Denver Nuggets in the first round as the 15th pick overall in the the 2016 NBA Draft. He stayed with the team for three and half seasons before he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, then later to the Boston Celtics, the San Antonio Spurs, until he reached the Jazz. He averaged 3.3 points per game with Utah, a team that became the fifth seed in the Western Conference.

Hernangomez now known as Bo Cruz

In ‘Hustle’. Hernangomez plays a promising young basketball player who is discovered by a Philadelphia 76ers scout played by Sandler. His character eventually joins the Celtics after going through some intensive training.

In real life, the Spaniard has not had a particularly remarkable performance, averaging 5.4 points per game during his stint with the NBA. He now has a chance to earn himself a place at training camp and make his mark in Toronto, although the team’s roster is already quite deep in the front court. The Raptors have a promising lineup, managing to reach the playoffs as fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
