BASKETBALL | DENNIS SCHRÖDER AND KEVIN DURANT

What negative comment did Dennis Schröder make about Kevin Durant?

The German point guard, who explained the differences between European and North American basketball, responded to a tweet from the Phoenix Suns forward.

During the recent Paris Olympics, Germany point guard Dennis Schröder hit the headlines for a statement which clearly referred to the style of play in the NBA.

Schröder’s thoughts on NBA versus European basketball

European basketball is not just about entertainment, it’s straight IQ basketball, straight coaching,” Schröder was quoted as saying after Germany’s 93-83 defeat to Serbia in the bronze medal game. “Really, really high IQ guys who know how to play the game. Serbia, Greece, Spain, France, Germany, so many teams out there who know how to play, and I think there’s a lot of people from Europe in the NBA who make some noise”.

Apparently those words did not please Kevin Durant, the United States forward, who after winning gold in the final against the host of the Games, France, uploaded a tweet in response, or so it seems, to Schröder’s words: “Entertainment and IQ (intelligence quotient)”.

Durant’s post says everything you need to know about his personality, says Schröder

It didn’t take long for the German to hit back in response, defining Durant as someone with a “weak personality” after the latter’s cryptic message.

He responded very forcefully through his Twitch channel: “Despite being such a big star, you felt the need to respond to a statement I made, which wasn’t even negative,” Schröder wrote. “For me, that was a weak move. I don’t care if he tweets or not, but the fact that he posted it for me shows how weak his personality is. I respect Durant and players like him, some of the greatest in history, but this post reveals a lot about his character”.

Durant has not yet responded to the German’s words and apparently has no intention of continuing the online spat, but the point guard also does not seem to have any intention of staying silent if this happens again, as he has already shown on several occasions.
