What will be the consequences for LaMelo Ball after running over a child’s foot with a car?
A Charlotte family is suing LaMelo Ball for causing serious injury to a child during a reckless ride and ignoring the child’s request for an autograph.
According to WSOC-TV, a woman has filed a lawsuit against Ball for allegedly running a car over her child’s feet last October.
During a Hornets event, 11-year-old Angel approached Ball, hoping to get an autograph. However, Ball left in a car without signing the autograph and stomped on the child’s foot, leaving him on the ground, injured, disappointed, and surprised.
Angel’s mother described the situation: “I just saw my son going down and thought maybe he dropped something.”
The young child suffered a debilitating foot injury, necessitating a lengthy recovery period. The family sought financial assistance from Ball’s insurance company to cover the extensive medical expenses. However, their efforts were hindered by a police report that lacked crucial information, as highlighted by Cameron de Brun, the family’s legal representative.
In addition to pursuing compensation from the insurance company, the family is preparing to take legal action against the Charlotte Hornets organization for its alleged failure to provide adequate security at the event where the injury occurred. According to the lawsuit, the family is seeking more than $25,000 in compensatory damages, in addition to any attorney’s fees and court costs. Neither Ball nor the Hornets have issued any statements in response to these serious allegations.
