When does the NBA 2024/2025 season start?
After the Boston Celtics claiming their 18th NBA Championship beating Dallas, thoughts now turn to next season’s tournament.
The dust has barely settled on the Boston Celtics winning Game 5 of the 2023-24 finals and in doing so cementing a record 18th NBA title to become the most successful franchise in NBA history, as basketball fans now face a barren spell without the sport they love.
There is a sliver of good news for the basketball faithful with the NBA Summer League set to start on 12 July and run through to 22 July and just four days later the 2024 Paris Olympics commence with the basketball event always one of the highlights and most eagerly anticipated sports at the Games.
Some of the global heavyweights will be in action in France with the likes of Spain, Serbia, Australia and of course Team USA competing for the Olympic gold. The US team is packed full of NBA talent with the likes of LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid and Jayson Tatum all set to star in the French capital.
Fans of the NBA sides will have to wait that little bit longer however as the new 2024-25 season officially getting underway in October with the regular season set to end in April.
The NBA also plans to stage an in-season tournament for the second consecutive year, now branded as the NBA Cup.
As yet, no official date has been announced as to when the schedule will be made available but looking at past season announcements, we can make an accurate guess that the fixtures will be released mid August with the 16-18th being cited as possible dates.
