The Boston Celtics are on the edge of making another NBA Finals appearance following their Game 5 victory over the Heat, leading the Eastern Conference Finals 3-2.

There is a big possibility that the Celtics close out the series against Miami this Friday, and advance to the Finals. With that said, let’s take a look at the last time Boston made an appearance at the NBA Finals.

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers are tied for the most titles in NBA history, with 17 each. Boston’s most recent win was in 2008, when they defeated the Lakers in six games, and Paul Pierce was named Finals MVP. Fast forward two years later, the Celtics made their last Finals appearance.

When was the last time the Celtics reached the Finals?

The last time the Celtics made it to the NBA Finals was in 2010 in Game 7 of the series against the Lakers. Boston was short-handed in L.A. playing with an injured Kendrick Perkins. After a good starting point, and a 23-14 leading quarter, Boston fell to a much-awaken Lakers team that pulled out an 83-79 victory for their 16th championship.
