Shooting guard Devin Booker could potentially come back to play for the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the NBA playoff series against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Devin Booker: ‘Progressing to a return soon’

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, he is making good progress in recovering from a hamstring strain and may return soon, as early as Game 6 or 7.

He has been officially listed as out for Game 6 for the grade 1 strain he sustained in Game 2. The three-time All-Star put up 31 points in the first half of the second game before leaving the court with less than five minutes remaining the third quarter. He has missed three games since then.

Despite not being able to play, he has been actively supporting his team from the sidelines.

If Booker does return soon, he is expected to play only a limited number of minutes. He has taken part in light shooting sessions during team practice.

Devin Booker: Key player in Suns’ success

The 25-year-old was a major factor in the Suns’ best-record finish in the NBA regular season, delivering an average of 26.8 points, 5 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game.

Phoenix had a 5-2 record when Booker was forced to sit out three weeks of play after suffering a left hamstring strain in December.

The Suns lead the series 3-2, and would eliminate the Pelicans if they win Game 6.

The Phoenix Suns take on the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 6 on Thursday, April 28, at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 pm. PT.
