When will Kyrie Irving be back with the Nets?
While Irving is away on suspension, the Nets are 4-3, including a 153-121 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday.
According to sources who spoke to ESPN, suspended All-Star player Kyrie Irving is almost done with the steps necessary to resume playing and might join the Brooklyn Nets as early as Sunday’s game at Barclays Center against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Irving will miss his eighth straight game on Thursday night in Portland, but according to sources, he is nearing the end of his suspension after almost two weeks.
“He has been grappling with the full weight of the impact of his voice and actions, particularly in the Jewish community. Kyrie rejects antisemitism in any form, and he’s dedicated to bettering himself and increasing his level of understanding. He plans to continue this journey well into the future to ensure that his words and actions align with his pursuit of truth and knowledge.” Tamika Tremaglio, NBPA exec, told ESPN on Wed.
Kyrie Irving the owner of his own destiny with the NBA and the Nets
Irving, the Nets, and the NBA collaborated closely with Tremaglio and the union to help him write his own remedy to end the ban, as per officials. Thus according to sources, what may have begun as a strict checklist of requirements changed into Irving taking control of the procedure, which is what the Nets and the league anticipated would happen.
Irving is serving a minimum five-game suspension without pay for his initial reluctance to retract and denounce his social media posting of an antisemitic-filled movie.
Following two press conferences and a public statement released with the Nets that didn’t include an apology or condemnation on November 4, Irving’s apology, uploaded on his Instagram account hours later, was in response.
