NBA Cup
Where are the NBA Cup 2024 semifinals and final set to be played?
Los Angeles Lakers will look to defend their NBA Cup title as the second edition of the in-season tournement starts.
After the initial buzz of the new season start in October, November and December are considered as low key months by many basketball fans and this was one of the factors in promoting the NBA to create the NBA Cup.
The second edition of the in-season NBA Cup gets underway on 12 November with the tournament also drawing inspiration from European soccer leagues, which feature in-season cup competitions.
The format of the tournament remains the same as last year’s inaugural edition, with all 30 NBA teams split into six groups—three Eastern and three Western. Each team plays one game against the other four teams in its group. The winner of each group, along with the team boasting the best record among the non-group winners, will progress to the knockout rounds.
Los Angeles Lakers are the current NBA Cup holders beating Indiana Pacers 123-109 in the inaugural final and for the 2024 competition, the purple and yellow side of LA find themselves in a group alongside the Oklahoma City Thunder, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference’s Group B.
Final Four venue
Following the quarterfinal stages, the four remaining teams will head to Las Vegas with both semi-final games being played on 14 December at the T-Mobile Centre. The same venue hosts the final match which will determine which team follows the Lakers as NBA Cup champions.
