The 2024 WNBA Finals head to Minnesota for a crucial Game 3, with the series tied 1-1. Despite the Liberty dominating much of the court time, Minnesota managed to steal the first game in Brooklyn and is heading home with the momentum still on its side before the matchup in Minneapolis.

We saw high-level team basketball with solid defenses and good offensive plays in both games. When evaluating the players' individual qualities, the power forward of the New York Liberty could easily be the biggest contender for the MVP Finals award based on her stats and the quality of her game.

Breanna Stewart - New York Liberty

Fresh off setting a WNBA Finals record with seven steals in Game 2, Breanna Stewart will be an indispensable figure again in Minnesota tonight. Her defense in the second game against fellow UConn alum Nneka Ogwumike played a crucial role in leveling the series. But her offensive power cannot be overlooked—she’s averaging over 20 points per game with a 45.8% FG accuracy in the Finals, second only to Hall of Famer Cynthia Cooper in WNBA history.

She also became the first player in Finals history to record at least 20 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals in a championship series game.

She holds the best odds at -115 to win the MVP Finals award with a few of the biggest SportBooks.

Napheesa Collier - Minnesota Lynx

Collier, on the other side, was fantastic defensively in Minnesota’s 18-point comeback win in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals in New York. She blocked six shots, tied a career-high, and grabbed three steals. She scored 21 points and snagged eight rebounds in the 95-93 overtime win.

The oddsmakers give her +250 to win the individual award

Sabrina Ionescu - New York Liberty

Third on the list is Ionescu, who averages 18.2 points per game (PPG) and 6.2 assists per game (APG), with a 3P% of 33.3% and an FG% of 39.4%. This is solid but not excellent, or at least something that we could expect from the Liberty’s Guard, and surely, she will need more if she wants to impress the MVP voters.

She’s third on the oddsmakers list with +600.
