Who are the most popular NBA players in social media? Curry, Lebron, Doncic...
With the numbers clearly showing who fans favor, it’s apparentl that the Warriors star wasn’t satisfied with just being crowned on court.
Truth be told, it’s probably no surprise that the Warriors star tops the list given the 2021-22 NBA season that he had. The question that remains, is whether he can repeat the same kind of success in this year’s campaign.
Steph Curry reigns supreme on NBA’s social media
Having led the Golden State Warriors to yet another NBA championship in 2022, star shooting guard Steph Curry was without doubt the best of the best in the league. Not only did Curry clinch his first Finals MVP award, but he also secured multiple milestones on the way to lifting the Warriors’ fourth title in 8 years. Needless to say, Curry’s presence off the court attracts as much attention as it does on it and now that the numbers are in, we can get a precise look at just how strong that presence is.
Already one of the most recognized athletes in the world far less the NBA, Curry’s social credit increased even more during the 2021-22 NBA season. According to a recent report, the Warriors star saw became the most viewed player across the league’s social media platforms in 2022, with more than 100 million more views than his closest rival on the list. That’s to say that not even the likes of Ja Morant, LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Luka Doncic, teammate Jordan Poole, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook could topple the 3-point-king. Curry’s 485 million views saw him sit comfortably at the top of the social media mountain, while Morant’s 351 million placed him in second.
The only thing better would be Steph Curry’s return
With Curry currently sidelined due to a shoulder injury, fans haven’t been able to see their favorite star in action. Indeed, as much as he was lucky to escape the surgeon’s knife Golden State’s talisman is unfortunately still on the sidelines. Needless to say, the team has struggled without him, but they did manage to get an important win against their conference rivals, the Memphis Grizzlies. It was perhaps the perfect remedy, for what has been a tricky start to the Warriors’ title defense. At this point, fans will be hoping to see Curry back on court - not just on social media - so that he can help Golden State get its title defense back on track.
