With the NBA’s All-Star Weekend almost upon us, we’re giving you the low down on what to expect from the big event. While the All-Star Game itself will take center stage on Sunday night, there are also some other great events to take in like the Skills Challenge, the Slam Dunk contest and of course the 3-Point Contest, a competition where only sharp shooters need apply.

What’s the field look like in the 3-Point Contest?

This year’s NBA All-Star 3-point contest will feature eight players, who will play across a two-round competition:

What to know about the field?

Following a rare win by a big man last year, the Timberwolves’ Karl-Anthony Towns, the Pacers’ Buddy Hield will be looking to return to normal service, as he hopes to add another 3-point contest crown to his resume. Indeed, Hield who currently leads the NBA this season with 224 3-pointers made, won the 3-point contest back in 2020 in Chicago. Should he manage to complete the feat, he will become only the eighth player to win the title two or more times. Facing Hield, will be the duo from the Portland Trail Blazers, Anfernee Simons, who is second in the league with 195 3-pointers made, and Damian Lillard, who has 186 3-pointers to his name this season.

Interestingly, this isn’t Lillard’s first time in the 3-point competition, having competed in both 2014 and 2019, however, he’s never won one. Rounding out the field, we’ve got the likes of Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Tyler Herro (Miami Heat), Kevin Huerter (Sacramento Kings), Jason Tatum (Boston Celtics) and Lauri Markkanen (Utah Jazz).
