Who has most picks in 2023 NBA Draft? Which team has no picks in 2023 NBA Draft?
The NBA Draft starts tomorrow at 8 pm ET from Brooklyn, New York. Some teams will be busier than other teams as they look to draft the stars of tomorrow.
The NBA Draft tips off tomorrow from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and while we are fairly certain who the San Antonio Spurs will be taking with the first overall pick, there are plenty of things that are still very much up in the air heading into Draft Day.
The NBA Selection Show is full of plenty of drama, jubilation, heartbreak and chaos. Teams across the league are making final preparations for any and every possibility as they get ready to enter the “war room.” Some teams will be busier than others during this year’s draft. Barring last minute trades, there are three teams with no draft picks while two teams have five!
Teams with no picks
One team that will not be participating in the 2023 Draft as of the day before the show is the Chicago Bulls. Generally, when a team doesn’t have a draft pick, it’s because they have traded future picks away to beef up their current roster. That’s not the case with the Bulls. Instead they were stripped of their one and only pick after being found guilty of tampering when they traded from Lonzo Ball in 2021.
The Draft may be in New York, but the Knicks are set to have a very calm Thursday. They traded their first round pick to the Portland Trail Blazers in the Josh Hart deal which will leave Knicks fans with nothing to boo during the draft ceremonies tomorrow.
The Sixers were set to have only one pick in this draft, but they had to forfeit that after getting caught for tampering. Philadelphia was stripped of their pick in the second round after the league found they violated NBA policy in the manner in which they brought in P.J. Tucker and Daniel House Jr.
Teams with most picks
It should come as no surprise that the teams with the most draft picks this year are teams that stink. I don’t mean to be so blunt, but it just makes sense. A team that isn’t doing well, and hasn’t been doing well for a while need to build the franchise from the ground up and that’s what the Indiana Pacers and the Charlotte Hornets will be trying to do on Thursday.
The Hornets have a chance to have a franchise changing draft. They have five picks spread throughout the two rounds. Charlotte has the second overall pick, and while they might have missed the boat on Victor Wembayana, but they will have their choice of whoever they want after that. They also have the 27th overall pick and three second round picks.
The Pacers have three first round picks, including the 7th, 26th and 29th. They also have the 32nd pick, which gives them three of the seven selections to end the first round and start the second.
Nothing is locked down, and if we know anything about draft day it’s that things are certain to change. But as of now it looks like the Pacers and Hornets will be brurning the midnight oil in the hours leading up to Thursday night.
