Iverson paid tribute to ‘Diesel’ who in turn painted a vivid picture of ‘Punk’ Dennis Rodman: “He’d have models hanging off him at the club”.
Allen Iverson is considered one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA. During his 14 seasons in the league, he was selected for 11 All-Star Games and received various awards, including the MVP of the season in 2000-01 and Rookie of the Year, among others.
Shaq’s insight on ‘Punk’ Rodman
During ‘The Big Podcast with Shaquille O’Neal’ the Philadelphia 76ers legend ventured to reveal who is part of his all-time NBA starting 5 - a select team which comprises: Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.
“I’m going to put Steph (Curry) in, LeBron (James), who pound for pound is probably the best player to ever play basketball, and my second favorite, behind Michael Jordan, who of course would also be on my team. Kobe (Bryant) and Shaq (O’Neal),” Iverson revealed during the show ‘The Big Podcast with Shaquille O’Neal’.
Iverson paid his own compliments to Shaq, as he explained: “This dude right here. I was always jealous of his teammates. It had nothing to do with basketball - just being around him. That energy that live, laugh, love. I’m like Damn, you get to be around him every day”.
He also pointed out that his superstar team would dominate the league: “There would be no rival for them.”

When asked which players he would select to play alongside Iverson and himself, Shaq replied, “Him an the 1, I’m gonna go T-Mac at the 2, I’m gonna give him a chance. At the 3, I’m gonna go... do we want a superstar team, or do we want a regular team? At the 3, ‘Big Dog’ Glenn Robinson. And at the 4, I’m gonna go with... we need somebody crazy. I hate to say this name... Punk Dennis Rodman”.
Diesel then went on to paint a portrait of the forward, who he played alongside with the Lakers. “This dude would come in - the meetings at 5:30, you gotta be there at 5:30, he’d come in with 40 minutes on the clock eating chicken and rice, not paying attention. Take a cold shower, not paying attention. We’d go out first, and he’d come out, give you 25 rebounds, stank like... put his clothes on and go to the club and have the baddest woman I’ve ever seen in my life.... Surrounded him, hugging him, kissing him. He smelled like garbage truck water! And he’s got models on him at the club. I was a party guy, but I ain’t ever seen what I saw with Dennis Rodman
Despite not lifting the Larry O’Brien Trophy, Iverson established himself for his great skill on the court during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies.
