From the first woman to join to a former championship-winning coach, ESPN’s new lead broadcast team for the 2023-24 NBA is full of quality and in-depth knowledge of the game. It’s going to be an exciting ride this year.

ESPN’s surprises with an overhaul of NBA analysts team

As you probably know by now, ESPN officially announced its new lineup for the NBA broadcast teams. With Doris Burke the headliner as the first woman to serve as a TV analyst for the NBA Finals, the roster will also see the addition of former NBA coach Doc Rivers. The pair will be joining longtime ESPN analysts, Mike Breen as part of the network’s new lead broadcast team as well as Lisa Salters who will work as the sideline reporter. The news of course comes following the June dismissal of top analyst and fellow former NBA coach, Jeff Van Gundy, and former NBA player Mark Jackson who was let go just last month.

There are other changes to ESPN’s NBA coverage

With a top-to-bottom approach, ESPN has also made changes to its NBA Finals coverage, with the ever-talented Malika Andrews being promoted to permanent host of all “NBA Countdown” shows, including the NBA Finals pregame and halftime shows. Andrews is of course replacing Mike Greenberg who will now be hosting alongside Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon, and Adrian Wojnarowski. Then, there is also the man who many credit with guiding the Golden State Warriors to four titles, Bob Myers, who will call games throughout the season. It’s also worth mentioning that the network will now have a new second team, with Ryan Ruocco serving as a play-by-play voice alongside JJ Redick and Richard Jefferson. Last but not least, analyst Hubie Brown will be returning for his 50th season of NBA coverage. For a look at the lineups, take a look below:
