As a junior at Rancho Cucamonga High School, Stroud showcased his basketball prowess. His head coach, Bill Burke, remembers him well. Stroud was a good player, and during one memorable game, he put on a show.

Facing off against Jaime Jaquez Jr., who later became an NBA rookie sensation, Stroud scored an impressive 28 points, although he claimed 40. He even hit a game-winning 3-pointer, leading to the crowd rushing the court. His real basketball talent was evident, and had he focused solely on basketball, he could have been a Division I player.

Why did CJ Stroud choose football over basketball

Stroud’s first love was basketball, but he believed his future lay in football because that’s where his talents were better suited. So he made it his dream was to become a quarterback in the NFL.
