Why is Ja Morant not playing in game 2 of the playoffs against the Lakers?
The Memphis Grizzlies will host the LA Lakers at the FedExForum on April 19, 2023, at 7:30 pm ET for game 2 of the playoff series.

The game between Los Angeles and Memphis was interesting from the start of the postseason. The Grizzlies had been the superior team throughout the regular season, but the Lakers recuperated LeBron James in time for the playoffs. Los Angeles was able to land the first blow in game 1 thanks to solid cooperation and the offensive spark provided by their starting five.

Memphis was behind the Lakers by just four points (105-101) with fewer than six minutes left when Ja Morant suffered an injury contributing to the Grizzlies’ eventual loss. The All-Star was going up for a layup against Davis when his right hand twisted awkwardly upon impact. After much wailing, Morant had to leave the court.

Why won’t Ja Morant play in game 2 against the Lakers?
The Memphis Grizzlies confirmed that Ja Morant would sit out of Wednesday’s game against the Lakers. The guard’s right hand had been hurting him since Game 1.
Morant underwent an MRI on Monday that revealed an aggravation of the bruising in the soft tissue of his hand. It is the same injury Morant suffered during the last week of the regular season against the Milwaukee Bucks, said coach Taylor Jenkins.
